DAVE MUSTAINE's 48th-Birthday Celebration: Video Available

September 17, 2009

Video footage of MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine's 48th-birthday celebration, which took place Monday night (September 14) in San Diego, California, can be viewed at TheLiveLine.com (click on the "Video" link to access the clip).

Mustaine recently told U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine that he is planning to open up the band's California recording studio to under-privileged kids — to teach them about rock 'n' roll.

According to ContactMusic.com, Mustaine owns a building in San Diego, California which has housed all of MEGADETH's recording equipment over the last few years. But the guitarist/vocalist has decided to make better use of the space by turning it into a learning center for children from deprived backgrounds — and he has vowed to teach them all to play instruments.

He tells Kerrang!, "I want to give something back. I'm not one of these guys who needs a lot of money, but because I've been so overpaid during my career I'm going to invite some inner-city kids to the studio and teach them about music.
"Some of these kids have the talent, but not the means to show it. Wouldn't it be awesome to find a kid and bless his life with music and give him a career?"
